My NFL predictions for the coming season

As a former Dallas Cowboys' fan from childhood and a Roto football junkie as a young adult, I've followed the NFL religiously since 1965.

Today, I love Peyton Manning and his Colts. They are fun to watch. After that, I don't care who else wins.

I wish I could love the Titans as a team. After Pacman, almost all the players as parts of that team have been all class and community givers. But the team is ultimately a business and is owned by Bud Adams. The deal he made here was a real loser for taxpayers.

So from what I know about the NFL and simply feel in my bones, here are my predictions for this season:

In the AFC South, the Titans will finish behind the Jaguars at the top and the Colts in second. The Texans will finish in the cellar once more.

The Jaguars will play the Patriots for the AFC championship. Brett Farve will add excitement to the Jets, but not any kind of championship ring. Peyton Manning probably will not have the same Marvin Harrison back at WR. The Chargers could surprise in the playoffs but their star LB has decided to play injured all season.

The Cowboys will play the Saints for the NFC championship. The Giants will not repeat and were not overly impressive in their season opener in beating the Washington team. The Saints have a weaker schedule than a year ago and a more experienced offensive squad. Drew Bees will put up MVP numbers. The Cowboys again will have homefield advantage and hopefully no Jessica Simpson around to mess up things. Just kidding, T.O. No tears, man.

The Jags and the Cowboys will square off in the Super Bowl.

The Jags with a great defense and adequate offense, and the Cowboys with a great offense and adequate defense, will have a close game -- with the Jags receiving the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Please don't bet anything based on these predictions.
