Not only did the MTSU Blue Raiders beat a Maryland program just a few seasons removed from a BCS Orange Bowl appearance, but they gained prominent notice in The Washington Post.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn., Sept. 6 -- Maryland Coach Ralph Friedgen worried all week about Saturday night, fearing that playing an undermanned team in an unfamiliar setting could bring out the worst in his football team. He recalled the Terrapins' ill-fated trip to DeKalb, Ill., five years ago that yielded a stunning season-opening loss at Northern Illinois.
On Saturday, Maryland authored a performance even more unsightly. A Maryland team with 31 seniors proved no match for an inexperienced Middle Tennessee State team not even expected to challenge for the Sun Belt championship. For Friedgen, the 24-14 loss to Middle Tennessee State before 22,605 at Floyd Stadium will be remembered as the worst loss of his eight-year coaching tenure at his alma mater.
That's pretty sweet. If you want to read more about this David vs. Goliath victory, go to:
