The biggest Tennessee news last week was the sentencing of former state Sen. John Ford.
He won't be out of federal prison until he is 82. The shocking 14-year sentence delivered by Nashville federal judge Todd Campbell was not just for the crime of corruption -- for which Ford was convicted. It mostly was for Ford's controversial, unapologetic history of wrongs, writes Memphis Commercial-Appeal editorial page editor Otis L. Sanford.
His column today was well-written, with the kind of sage knowledge increasingly disappearing from newspapers across the country, particularly and sadly in Nashville.
Sanford's column on Ford is a most worthy read. Go to http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/oct/05/fords-sentence-was-for-more-than-latest-sins/
