www.politicalsalsa.com has been traveling this week: southern Ohio, south Texas and NewsChannel 5+; invite us out to make you heard

This political and social blog has been around the country this week with appearances before schools in Texas and Ohio and beginning tonight on NewsChannel5+, Comcast Channel 50.

I was part of a noteworthy panel on Inside Politics hosted by celebrated Tennessee political guru and historian Pat Nolan and produced by multi-talented producer Cherilyn Crowe.

Crowe brings a diverse community politically and demographically inside NewsChannel 5and its cable station on Comcast Channel 50. The result is the most informative, locally produced programs of all Middle Tennessee TV stations. Crowe really performs a public service and gets little public credit for the fine job she does.

I was on the panel -- not for my good looks and wit of thought -- but to talk about presidential politics for the diverse group of Americans of Hispanic descent.

The first airing of this show is tonight at 7.

After tonight, the schedule is 5 am & 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sundays.

NewsChannel 5 WTVF also airs the program at 5 a.m. Sunday.

I enjoy talking about politics and issues with others. I believe there is a common ground that all of us can agree on -- even amid this most contested presidential race.

At a Middle Tennessee Goodyear tire and auto repair shop today, I was talking to one of the operators about the presidential race. We known each other for a while. And he doesn't like either candidate.

He doesn't trust them either or any elected representative in Washington. He sees them as more aligned with company executives being paid more than they deserve -- who then get rewarded for bad decisions.

It synonymous to pro athletes getting paid too much, the businessman said. Someone has to restore some sanity to all this mess.

He sees government spending more and more money and operating unlike his household of four that has to pay its bills on time.

So he doesn't know for whom he'll vote Nov. 4. But he is deeply disappointed in the people leading his nation and those who are offering to be president.

As a fellow American, I can't argue with that mistrust, or what he already sees economically in people not buying as they used -- such as at auto dealerships. That affects his business. It also means less buying on everything from cars to refrigerators to lawn mowers, he added. And that means people lose their jobs, reducing buying even more for businesses like his.

You don't get this kind of insight from political pundits, who put political party loyalties first. You get it from being out among the good people of this state and nation -- then listening. So invite me out, and www.politicalsalsa.com will make your voice heard and heeded and maybe we can get some needed action to restore hope and trust.

We've got to keeping fighting as Americans first, not collective groups of minorities or special interests.
