The Knoxville News-Sentinel -- the best newspaper in Tennessee -- reports that it now is going to cost you a lot of bucks for state public records if the search goes beyond an hour.
Press and state advocates had reached a consensus that a cost should only come into effect if the search took more than a few hours -- two or three. But some bureaucrat has decided the cost kicks in after only one hour. And the price you'll pay depends on the salary of the person searching.
If you get someone doing the search who makes an annual salary of $39,000, you're going to pay $20 for the search, besides the cost of copies. How's that for trying to save your household money during a recession?
Incredibly outrageous. To read more, go to: http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2008/oct/02/new-tn-rules-call-for-charges-on-records-search/
