DARN! But Vandy's first loss won't spoil season

Vanderbilt was in some pretty good company of bigtime teams that lost today: Oklahoma, LSU and Missouri.

And they have one loss just like them.

Everyone believes all three of those teams will remain in the national title hunt, let alone compete for their conference titles and BCS bowl bids.

That's my feeling about the Commodores despite their loss today to Mississippi State. Every SEC team that faces the Bulldogs on the road gets out with their life. Vandy's offense just couldn't get it done today. But next Saturday is another opportunity to improve and still propel the 'Dores toward further football fortunes.

A national title was too much to hope for in the first place. But keep the bandwagon running. Maybe a few people will jump off after today. But that just gives me a little more room to lay down and catch a few Zs before next Saturday's game -- and another victory.
