Republican senators are lining up to block the bailout of the Big 3 automakers, giving their party something new to stand upon to the detriment of the Democrats who swept the Nov. 4 elections.
Democratic leaders in the Congress are pushing the $15 billion bailout -- and would have backed a sum twice that if not for White House opposition -- while President-elect Obama on Sunday's Meet the Press sounded much more cautious.
But the GOP led by Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker and Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby are sounding the populist note that John McCain should have echoed during the Wall Street bailout.
Polls show the American public dead set against the Big 3 bailout. They believe executives who make poor decisions should not be rescued. And they don't want more industries lining up for help, turning America from a republic into a Socialist state.
I agree.
And Dems are letting the GOP rise quickly back to political credibility even before these asses ... I mean donkeys ... take real power in January.
