Gathering set for laid off Tennessean workers

A time, date and place -- newspaper style always -- has been set for a gathering to salute the 22 people laid off from The Tennessean earlier this month.

If you'd like to come, send me an e-mail with your full name and phone number(I won't publish them), and I will call you with the details. I'd like to pass the hat so we can raise some funds to help these good people during the holidays. They still have families and bills.

No moles or Tennessean apologists need call.

Let us take advantage of a gathering as good journalists and current and former colleagues who remember when The Tennessean was a great place to work, with giants like John Siegenthaler, Jerry Thompson, Sheila Wissner and Sandra Roberts and so many more that this limited space does not allow me to list.

Old times should not be forgotten but reinforced during the holiday season with laughter and love for one another and our profession that once was so inspiring and fun.
