The New York Times reports that Caroline Kennedy is interested in replacing Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton as the senator from the Empire State.
Such an appointment by the governor there would be incredibly appropriate considering that her uncle represented the state and Sen. Edward Kennedy is fighting terminal cancer.
The daughter of JFK would bring a reinvigoration of the call to public service, already stirred by incoming president Barack Obama. This nation in the difficult year to come is going to need as much new hope as possible to look toward. She would provide that and more with her brilliance, fortitude and sense of service.
