Frist won't run for governor, says WSMV

Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist will not run for governor, WSMV-TV Channel 4 reported this evening.

Dr. Frist instead will create a pre-K through 12th grade initiative across Tennessee. Good for Dr. Frist in continuing his record of public service.

However, that revelation leaves a great void in the governor's race and throws it wide open. Former Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell declined to run for the Democratic nomination, instead taking an excellent position at Harvard University.

So who do you want for governor? Send me your names, for GOP and Democratic spots. Would Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn now be a GOP favorite? She certainly has the name.
